TopClick.app Analysis: Anatomy of the Indie Product Ecosystem

August 22, 2026 — 52.6M clicks, 200+ products, one leaderboard.

What Is TopClick.app?

TopClick.app is a click-based leaderboard for indie hackers and founders. Its philosophy is simple: "money is useless." No bids, no budgets. Ranking is purely based on click count. Total: 52,698,186 clicks and counting.

Each entry contains:

  • Product/name and short description
  • Total clicks (momentum indicator)
  • Visit count (real interest — click-to-visit conversion)
  • Rank (current popularity)

This data reads as a live cross-section of the indie product ecosystem.

Category Analysis

I categorized 200+ entries into 11 categories. Here's the breakdown:

1. AI/Agent Tools (12 products — most crowded)

The densest category. AI agents, coding assistants, agent platforms.

Standouts:

  • Cool Computer — 2.3M clicks, 20.7K visits: "Cloud for personal agents and software"
  • Reelful — 646K clicks, 3,576 visits: "Agentic video editor for iOS"
  • Stepaway — 502K clicks, 90 visits: "Handoff Claude & Codex sessions to the cloud"
  • omg.dev — 106K clicks, 5 visits: "Coding agent always on"
  • helmsman — 90K clicks, 3 visits: "Steer every coding agent from one window"

Takeaway: AI agent tools are reaching saturation. Too many similar products, hard to differentiate. But visit rates are low — interest exists but products aren't mature yet. Everyone saying "I built an AI agent tool" is swimming in the same pool.

2. SEO/GEO Tools (9 products)

SEO and AI-optimized search (GEO) tools.

Standouts:

  • SitemapKit — 2.1M clicks, 22 visits: XML sitemap scraper API
  • Index Pages — 180K clicks, 1,563 visits: "Get top 1 of Google and AI for your startup"
  • Mentions.so — 135K clicks, 9 visits: "Get recognised by AI Platforms"
  • Omnia — 19.5K clicks, 0 visits: "10x your AI visibility"

Takeaway: GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is a new wave. "AI visibility" and "AI platform mention" concepts are growing. But except Index Pages, none converted to visits. In SEO tools, copywriting is critical — Index Pages has the clearest description.

3. Social Media Tools (8 products)

Social media scrapers, schedulers, automation tools.

Standouts:

  • ReelMoney — 2.1M clicks, 57 visits: TikTok slideshow automation
  • Social Fetch — 810K clicks, 27 visits: Social media scraper API
  • SocialData API — 43.9K clicks, 1 visit: "95% cheaper Twitter API"
  • BulkPublish — 19.7K clicks, 7 visits: Social media publisher with MCP

Takeaway: Social media scraping and automation is competitive but demand exists. ReelMoney's high click/low visit ratio shows TikTok automation interest is high but the product hasn't converted yet.

4. Developer Tools (9 products)

Screenshot generators, email finders, transcript tools.

Standouts:

  • ShotLuma — 257K clicks, 1,110 visits: "Free & Open Source AppStore Screenshot Generator"
  • Screenies — 175K clicks, 7 visits: "App Store screenshots in under 5 minutes"
  • emailfinder.dev — 68.8K clicks, 1 visit: Real-time email finder API
  • Decloak — 38.4K clicks, 1 visit: Web security intelligence

Takeaway: ShotLuma has one of the best visit rates (1,110 visits / 257K clicks = 0.43%). Open-source (FOSS) positioning works. Screenies is in the same niche but near-zero conversion.

5. Finance/Payment (6 products)

Standouts:

  • Second — 1.8M clicks, 23 visits: "Simple way to add bitcoin payments to your app"
  • Daily Dough — 199K clicks, 7 visits: Free invoicing for freelancers
  • Shelters Finance — 32.2K clicks, 4 visits: Real estate investing from 10 EUR

Takeaway: Bitcoin payment integration has high interest (1.8M clicks). But visits are low — either the product is half-baked or the description is inadequate. Finance category has few products = opportunity gap.

6. Content/Writing (6 products)

  • Plume — 84.7K clicks, 4,941 visits: AI book writing agent
  • DraftToDone — 130K clicks, 2 visits: Create book from one line
  • DraftFast — 86.9K clicks, 54 visits: Turn idea into publish-ready book
  • PagePanda — 30.1K clicks, 474 visits: Stop collecting articles, start reading

Takeaway: Plume has one of the highest visit rates (4,941 visits / 84.7K clicks = 5.8%). AI book writing concept generates real interest. PagePanda also performs well (1.57%). The "read later / content consumption" concept also attracts clicks.

7. Productivity (6 products)

  • StayFocus — 35.8K clicks, 2 visits: Anti-procrastination focus sessions
  • Dool — 62.3K clicks, 3 visits: Gamified habits tracker
  • Momo — 31.3K clicks, 7 visits: ADHD body doubling
  • Bookmarkjar — 167.9K clicks, 10 visits: Never forget a sh**

Takeaway: Productivity category is saturated. All products have low visits. Differentiating in this space is very difficult.

8. Maps/Travel (4 products)

  • Placify Map — 1.0M clicks, 13 visits: Personal map & travel planner
  • Placify Social — 447K clicks, 19 visits: Turn social posts to maps

Takeaway: Placify is one founder with two entries. Travel + map niche has low competition but converting clicks to visits is hard.

9. Personal Profiles (11 entries)

Just self-promotion, no product.

Standouts:

  • Plz follow me — 2.5M clicks, 40 visits: "Follow me, I'll give a prize to random follower"
  • Aryan Kumar — 502K clicks, 4,187 visits: "I hacked this"
  • Max Jendrall — 2.1M clicks, 10.3K visits: AI/Codex/Agents content

Takeaway: "I hacked this" = 4,187 visits. Curiosity-inducing short texts boost conversion. Max Jendrall has 10.3K visits — content creator positioning works.

Click-to-Visit Conversion Analysis

The most critical metric: how many clicks actually convert to real site visits?

Highest Conversion Rates

Product Clicks Visits Conversion Why?
qala 1.1M 301,900 27.4% AI skills directory — outlier
Greip 68.3K 9,177 13.4% Fraud protection — clear description
Plume 84.7K 4,941 5.8% AI book writing — clear need
Aryan Kumar 502K 4,187 0.83% "I hacked this" — curiosity
Index Pages 180K 1,563 0.87% "Top 1 of Google and AI"
Max Jendrall 2.1M 10,300 0.49% AI content creator
ShotLuma 257K 1,110 0.43% FOSS positioning

Lowest Conversion Rates

Most products have visits < 10. Out of 200+ products, only ~15 have 100+ visits. This shows:

Clicks do not equal interest. On TopClick, clicking is a game — people click to rank up. Real interest is hidden in visit counts.

Opportunity Gaps

1. Education/Quiz Niche — Wide Open

Education and quiz tools are nearly absent on TopClick:

  • QuizMatic — 88.6K clicks, 1 visit (low)
  • IdeaPanda — 169K clicks, 10 visits

No serious competition. The market is open for quiz/education products.

2. Finance Tools — Few Products, High Clicks

Only 6 products but 2M+ total clicks. Bitcoin payment (Second) gathered 1.8M clicks but only 23 visits. This signals an immature product waiting for a better alternative.

3. POD (Print-on-Demand) — Weak

Stampify (157K clicks, 7 visits) and Specced (227K clicks, 6 visits) exist but both have low visits. POD marketplace concept is underrepresented.

4. AI Visibility/GEO — New Wave

Products like "Mentions.so" and "Omnia" sell the "AI visibility" concept. This is a new category — visits are low but clicks are high. First-mover advantage is available.

Founder Behavior Analysis

The "Follow Me" Tactic

11 entries are pure self-promotion ("follow me", "follow 4 follow"). They gathered 2.5M+ clicks but visit rates are low. This tactic generates clicks but doesn't create real interest.

Double Entry Strategy

Placify's founder placed two entries (Map + Social). This increases visibility but splits the category. Strategically sound — marketing the same product from different angles.

The "Hacked This" Psychology

Aryan Kumar's "I hacked this" description brought 4,187 visits. Curiosity is the most powerful click-to-visit trigger. It works better than clear descriptions.

Conclusions and Recommendations

TopClick as a Data Source

TopClick.app is a scrapeable data source for:

  1. Trend radar: Category distribution changes = which niches are rising
  2. Momentum tracking: Daily click delta = which products are gaining speed
  3. Conversion benchmark: Visit/click ratio = description quality benchmark
  4. Gap detection: Few products + high clicks categories = opportunity
  5. Founder discovery: 200+ indie founders with X profiles = lead generation

Key Findings

  • AI agent tools are saturated — differentiation is extremely hard
  • GEO/AI visibility is a new and growing category — first-mover opportunity
  • Finance and education niches have gaps
  • Clicks are not visits — most products convert below 0.1%
  • Curiosity + clear description = highest conversion (Greip 13.4%, Plume 5.8%)
  • FOSS positioning builds trust (ShotLuma 1,110 visits)
  • "Follow me" tactic generates clicks but no value
